The hospital in Garmisch-Partenkirchen built in the 1960s under the name "Blue Hospital" has been more than just renovated over the last few years. The architectural firm of Ludes Architekten created a new environment that is in tune with ecology, economy and efficiency. Natural materials such as wood and durlum's daylight solutions have created a bright and friendly atmosphere in the extension of the building complex, the central passage.

The central passage, which serves as walk guide system, is a good example of the energy-efficient character of the hospital. 49 light pipes of different diameters guide the daylight from the outside to the inside. This allows you to enjoy natural daylight also in the interior, while the room itself does not heat up too much. The Fresnel lenses located at the top end of the light pipes scatter the light, thus guaranteeing uniform room lighting. Consisting of anodised aluminium, the light pipes reflect the sky's blue colour, thus providing a fascinating colour contrast to the interior design maintained in brown shades.

When it is dark, the PUNTEO®-J85 LED built-in downlights supply the required light. They discreetly blend into the ceiling of the central passage. Owing to their wide-beam light distribution, they guarantee optimum lighting. The aesthetic value of the ceiling installation converts the central passage of the Garmisch Partenkirchen hospital to a place that offers much more than just orientation: it is an oasis of well-being.
